August 18, 2011 (Taos Ski Valley, NM) – This weekend marks the return of the Taos Mountain Music Festival in its third year to Taos Ski Valley, NM, August 20th & 21st. With just a few days away, this two-day celebration in the mountains hosts an amazing weekend of music, entertainment, and family fun activities for all ages to enjoy.

The Festival kicks off Saturday, August 20th at noon with contemporary blues/rock artist and Albuquerque native Ryan McGarvey followed by a full day of musical talent including crowd favorite Afroman, jamband fav Donna the Buffalo, Local favorite Ozomatli and critically acclimated American Hasidic Jewish reggae musician Matisyahu and many more. Sunday, August 21st, world-renowned Mariachi Tucson Luz de Luna starts the day at 11am followed by Dangermuffin, Orgone, Jackie Greene Duo, and Festival headliners Railroad Earth and Leftover Salmon.

For the Festival night owl, there will be late night music featured after the main stage both in Taos Ski Valley and in the Festival campground. Langhorne Slim plays the Martini Tree Bar Saturday night and Shannon McNally and Hot Sauce and Colorado favorite Dangermuffin rock the festival campground both Friday and Saturday nights – free to all campers when a camping pass is purchased.

Along with an amazing weekend of music, Festival attendees can enjoy the festival’s marketplace, where they can shop for crafts from local artisans, enjoy craft beer from festival sponsor, Sierra Nevada, sample food from top area vendors and restaurants, and kids can enter the “Kids Zone,” for a nominal fee to go wild in the jumpy castle, get their faces painted, and play games all weekend long.

In 1955 Taos Ski Valley was founded by Ernie and Rhoda Blake. Ernie a Santa Fe Ski Valley manager spotted Taos when flying to Glenwood Springs, Colorado and knew it could become a world class ski area.
